The first stage of wound healing is Inflammatory stage, characterized by dilation and increased permeability of capillaries, movement of white blood cells and plasma into the area, clot formation, and removal of foreign material and cell debris. A inflammatory stage is the body's natural way to injury and it is the stage where the characteristic signs of inflammation can be seen.
