The U.S. Senate has 100 members. After a certain election, there were 20 more Democrats than Republicans, with no other parties represented. How many members of each party were there in the Senate?​

There were about ...
100-20=80
Then take 80/2=40
So you add 20+40=60
At the end you have 60 democrats and 40 republicans. And to be sure you can add 60+40=100.
