Waves' action is seen to have erosion effects on the coastal line in the form of a hydraulic action, attrition and abrasion and the compression a wave action and thus material in the coastline gets dissolved and carried away by the sea. Thus also depends on the depth and slope of the coastal line.
And some ways to prevent this is by the use of the sand dunes, vegetation, seawalls, the sandbags, and the sand fences
