La Salle claimed Louisiana for France but was unable to create and
develop a permanent settlement in Louisiana. Why did this never happen
for La Salle?*
He couldn't find the mouth of the MS river again, he created a settlement called Fort. St Louis in which the colony failed although France continued to claim LA he was killed by one of his men later on.
