Given the inequality -8 < 2, explain what happens when you multiply or divide both sides by 2 and what happens when you multiply or divide both sides by -2.

Multiply by 2:
[tex] - 8 < 2 \\ - 8 \times 2 < 2 \times 2 \\ - 16 < 4[/tex]
Multiply by -2:
[tex] - 8 < 2 \\ - 8 \times ( - 2) > 2 \times ( - 2) \\ 16 > - 4[/tex]
So when multiplying by negative 2 the inequality change
